Common Issues

Connection Issues

If your AI client can't connect or shows "unauthorized":

  • Verify your API key is copied correctly from the dashboard
  • Check that your subscription is active
  • Ensure FreshBooks is connected (green status in dashboard)
  • Try regenerating your API key

Permission Errors

If you see "tool not permitted" or "operation disabled":

  • Read-only mode is enabled by default for safety
  • Go to Settings in your dashboard to enable write operations
  • Enable permissions for specific categories you need
  • Changes take effect immediately (no reconnect needed)

FreshBooks Disconnected

If your FreshBooks connection stops working:

  • Check your dashboard - does it show "Connected"?
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your FreshBooks account
  • If you revoked access in FreshBooks, you'll need to reconnect here
